To get the most from your credits and ensure consistent results, it’s important to follow best practices when building and managing your searches.
This guide will show you how to refine your searches, avoid wasted credits, and keep your prospecting efficient.
Start broad, then refine
Begin with wider filters like department and seniority before narrowing to specific job titles.
- For example: “Marketing Director” may miss “Head of Growth” or “VP of Demand Generation.”
- Using department + seniority helps capture all relevant decision-makers in that function.
Use exclusions wisely
Exclusion filters help cut out irrelevant results so you don’t waste credits.
- Exclude job titles like Assistant, Intern, PA, EA.
- Exclude competitor domains if you don’t want their employees in your search results.
Optimise email quality settings
By default, the system returns High/High+ quality emails.
- Keep these settings for accuracy and deliverability.
- Switch to Medium if you need more volume and can accept slightly lower accuracy.
Leverage saved searches
Save your frequently used ICP searches (e.g., UK Manufacturing CFOs) so you don’t rebuild them every time.
- Saved searches are reusable.
- Teams can standardise searches for consistency across markets.
Use Target Persona shortcuts
Click Add Filters in the search builder to automatically apply your saved Target Persona settings.
- Saves time when setting up new searches.
- Ensures all team members are aligned on the same ICP.
Test before revealing
Searching is free — credits are only used when you reveal.
- Run test searches with different filter combinations to see how results compare.
- Only reveal when you’re confident the filters are accurate.
Bulk vs. individual reveals
- Use bulk reveals when confident in your filters and ready to generate contact lists at scale.
- Use individual reveals when validating or testing a new segment.
Export and sync regularly
Revealing is just the first step.
- Export revealed contacts to CSV for campaigns.
- Sync them straight into Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics, or LinkedIn Ads audiences to put them to use quickly.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Over-filtering too early and excluding good prospects.
- Forgetting to apply exclusions (like assistants or interns).
- Ignoring email quality settings and revealing too many low-quality results.
- Not saving searches, which means re-doing work.
