When setting up cadence emails, you can choose between two sending mechanisms: Bulk Sending or Standard Mailbox Sending (Gmail/Outlook). Both have their advantages, depending on whether you need high-touch, personalised outreach or large-scale, high-volume sending.
Bulk Sending for One-to-One Sales Emails
Overview
Traditionally, sending one-to-one sales emails through Gmail or Outlook meant you were limited to ~35 emails per day per mailbox. Bulk Sending removes those limits by routing emails through SendGrid, allowing you to scale outreach far beyond native mailbox restrictions.
Even though messages are sent in bulk, they still use a plain-text format, keeping the look and feel of a personal sales email.
When to use Bulk Sending:
- Large-scale cadences where higher daily volumes are required.
- Campaigns where open and click tracking is important.
- When you want to scale across multiple mailboxes and domains.
How Bulk Sending works:
- Emails are routed via SendGrid (not Gmail/Outlook).
- Higher daily volumes are available (500, 1,000, or 2,000 per day).
- Emails will not appear in your Gmail/Outlook sent folder.
- Replies are not tracked in-platform.
Standard Mailbox Sending (Gmail/Outlook)
Overview
This is the traditional sending mechanism for cadences. Emails are sent directly through your connected Gmail or Outlook account, appearing exactly as if you sent them manually.
When to use Standard Sending:
- High-touch outreach where personalisation is key.
- Cadences where reply tracking is important.
- Smaller-scale sequences where mailbox limits aren’t restrictive.
How Standard Sending works:
- Emails appear in your Gmail/Outlook sent folder.
- Replies are tracked in-platform.
- Subject to mailbox provider limits (~35 emails/day per mailbox).
Sending Tiers for Bulk Sending
- 500 emails/day
- 1,000 emails/day
- 2,000 emails/day
⚠️ Bulk Sending requires DNS setup and a 7-day warm-up before reaching your full tier capacity.
Where to Find Bulk Sending
- Go to Cadences → Email Settings → Mailbox Settings.
- Under each connected mailbox, you’ll see the option to enable Bulk Sending.
- Each mailbox must be set up as a User Mailbox before Bulk Sending can be activated.
Key Notes
- If a mailbox is already whitelabelled, it defaults to 500/day tier (you can upgrade if needed).
- No limit on the number of domains you can configure for Bulk Sending.
- Once a cadence is created with Bulk Sending, it cannot be switched back to Gmail/Outlook.
- Bulk Sending and Standard Sending can run in parallel for maximum flexibility.
FAQs
Do I need to warm up again if I’ve already done this for workflows?
No. If your domains are already warmed up for workflows, you can use the same domains for Bulk Sending.
Can I increase my sending tier later?
Yes. You can move from 500/day to 1,000/day or 2,000/day as required.
Can I switch a cadence from Bulk to Gmail/Outlook sending?
No. Once configured, all emails in that cadence remain Bulk.
Can I use Bulk Sending and Gmail/Outlook at the same time?
Yes. Both mechanisms can run in parallel.
