Spintax allows you to add natural variation into your cadence emails without rewriting content manually. Instead of sending the exact same message to every contact, Spintax rotates between pre-set variations for greetings, closings, and quotes — helping your outreach feel more authentic, avoid repetition, and improve deliverability.
What is Spintax?
Spintax (short for “spinning syntax”) lets you insert pre-defined variations into your cadence steps. Each recipient will see one variation chosen at random, keeping your outreach fresh and personalised.
In Lead Onion, Spintax is available in three core areas:
- Greeting → e.g. “Hi {{first_name}},” / “Hey {{first_name}},” / “Hello {{first_name}},”
- Closing → e.g. “Best regards,” / “Cheers,” / “Speak soon,”
- Quote → e.g. “Opportunities don’t happen, you create them.” / “Success is built on consistency.”
You can insert these into your emails with dedicated tokens:
- {{spintax_greeting}}
- {{spintax_closing}}
- {{spintax_quote}}
Why Use Spintax?
- Keeps emails unique → Each prospect gets a slightly different version.
- Boosts deliverability → More variation helps bypass spam filters.
- Saves time → Set up once, reuse across all cadence steps.
- Feels more human → Small changes in greetings or closings make emails feel less robotic.
Getting Started with Spintax
Step 1: Configure Your Spintax Settings
- Go to Settings → Mailbox → Spintax.
- Add your preferred variations for greetings, closings, and quotes.
- Save — these will now be available across all cadences.
Step 2: Insert Spintax in a Cadence Step
- Open your cadence and select the email step.
- Place the relevant token ({{spintax_greeting}}, {{spintax_closing}}, {{spintax_quote}}) where you want variation to appear.
Example:
{{spintax_greeting}}

{{spintax_closing}}
Step 3: Preview Your Message
- Use Step Preview to see how your Spintax renders.
- Each refresh shows a different variation, letting you check for tone and accuracy.
Best Practices
- Add at least 3 variations for each Spintax type to keep content fresh.
- Combine Spintax with personalisation tokens like {{first_name}} and {{business_name}}.
- Keep greetings and closings short and natural.
- Use quotes sparingly to add variety without overwhelming the message.
